More Information

This untitled landscape by Abramofsky depicts the forest and beach of the Seiberling family summer retreat on their private island in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where he was guest. John Seiberling said that Abramofsky “was enchanted over his experience in Northern Michigan, enchanted with the wildlife and the landscape, like a child at a picnic.” He made this painting to try to recapture the sense of excitement and beauty he felt up there. He made some smaller paintings on the spot which the family still has, then made this larger work when back in his studio.
