This image contains digital manipulations that are obvious and others that are invisible. It is composed of two separate photographs: one of the elderly woman, who was showing Meyer how to light a traditional Mexican steam bath, and one containing everything else. The photographer deleted distracting elements, such as Pepsi logos, and threw everything slightly out of focus except the two main figures. βI thought that it would be like bringing temptation to the angel,β Meyer says, βto have [the woman] walking across this chessboard . . . this threatening figure . . . with burning branches.β
