More Information

This image contains digital manipulations that are obvious and others that are invisible. It is composed of two separate photographs: one of the elderly woman, who was showing Meyer how to light a traditional Mexican steam bath, and one containing everything else. The photographer deleted distracting elements, such as Pepsi logos, and threw everything slightly out of focus except the two main figures. β€œI thought that it would be like bringing temptation to the angel,” Meyer says, β€œto have [the woman] walking across this chessboard . . . this threatening figure . . . with burning branches.”
