More Information

Saqqara is the necropolis for the ancient Egyptian city of Memphis and is located on the west bank of the Nile, near the entrance of the Nile Delta. This unfinished pyramid dates to the Third Dynasty (2686 to 2613 BCE) and was probably started during the brief reign of Sekhemkhet (2649 to 2643 BCE). The pyramid is surrounded by a number of additional buildings.
