For some of his daylight images, Link used a medium format Rolleiflex to take advantage of the camera’s portability and fast film speeds. Link was lucky enough to be present for one of the last runnings of a J Class engine. On a rainy winter afternoon, Link made a dozen negatives of the decommissioned train as it pulled out of the station. He ran backwards on the platform, continuing to shoot until it had passed.
