In 1996, Nettles celebrated her 50th birthday with works in several landmark solo and group exhibitions, including the Akron Art Museum’s own History of Women Photographers, which traveled around the United States for two years. Always experimenting, Nettles collaborated with faculty from Columbia College’s Book and Paper Arts program to create Birch Eyes.
