More Information

Luray Crossing took first place in 1957 Graflex International Photo contest. Link worked for three days to create this photograph, placing over a third of a mile of wire to set off 36 flash bulbs at 3:00 am.Even though his images involved elaborate plans, Link would often work on two or three variations of each scene before moving to a new location. The crossing tower, gate with flashing lights and feed mill as background at Luray offered Link many possibilities. He photographed trains passing in each direction, both day and night, and a portrait. He also made a sound recording simultaneous with this exposure.
