More Information

Bramson comments that 'HER off balance dance', which features dancing figures, rippling vases, and flaming smokestacks arrayed against a platform (or perhaps dance floor), may have been created for an auction. The theatrical composition and bright colors are typical for the artist. 'HER off balance dance' was created shortly after Bramson, inspired by Philip Guston’s late work, returned to painting after a long hiatus. In the interim she had worked in ceramics and mixed media, which may have influenced her decision to frequently incorporate objects into her paintings at this time.
