This picture is a chemigram like Deep Luminos and Phoenix and features much of the same process described above in relation to those two works. A critical difference, however, is Preece’s employment of acrylic floor finish as a resist in the chemigram process, a possibility that he discovered in 2011. The floor finish gives Encampment its dense combination curving divisions and linear subdivisions, and the work’s title acknowledges the organic appearance of this result, which suggests a texture drawn from nature.
