Raspberry Interior was part of Jessica Backhaus’s first photobook, Jesus and the Cherries, in which the artist chronicled rural life in the Polish province of Pomorskie. The images that she produced there suggest that she struck up strong relationships with her subjects, who invited her to take their portraits and to document their houses and apartments. Backhaus found beautiful moments of everyday life, but also a sense of things changing and even slipping away.
