Before developing his crumpled canvas method, Showell spray-painted gridded lines on brightly colored backgrounds. This print, which was published by Tanglewood Press as part of the portfolio NY 10/69, exemplifies Showell’s earlier work. Alan Shields’s print Lonely Night, also on display in this exhibition, is from the same portfolio.
