More Information

Sommer was one of northeast Ohio's best known artists. His signature style, seen in Fruit and Wine in Window, incorporated simple, graceful lines to capture the essence of his subjects. Under the influence of Cubists and other European modernists, Sommer also eliminated such traditional realist devices as texture and depth from his work.
