<SPAN STYLE="font-family:'HelveticaNeueLT Std Cn'">As a student in social work at Columbia University, Ken Heyman took a course with the renowned anthropologist Margaret Mead. In response to a photo-essay Heyman submitted as part of an assignment, Mead invited him to join her on a trip to Bali. Heyman has subsequently photographed cultures throughout the world, both accompanying Mead, with whom he produced two books, and on his own. The artist, who credits Mead’s anthropological perspective as an influence, demonstrates skill in portraying relationships between people he has encountered at work or rest in working-class neighborhoods across the United States.</SPAN>
