In the Nuclear Enchantment series, Nagatani often combines cultural and religious symbols with scenes showcasing weaponry. The Kwahu Kachina, seen in this photograph, is a spirit from the Hopi religion who participates in celebrations held in March. Dancers costumed as Kwahu mimic the movements of eagles and symbolize a prayer for more of the majestic birds, who are considered “honored guests” by the Hopi.
