A ceramist, Lucero ventures beyond traditional uses of clay into painting, installation and archaeology. An ardent admirer of global cultures, he incorporates stylistic references from Pre-Columbian, Native American, European and African cultures into his work. His complex forms comment on the changing nature of our society. This untitled drawing was done on an unfolded paper bag, giving it the feeling of something fleeting or insignificant. Yet the composition is complete. Whether a spontaneously rendered idea or a deliberate use of a paper remnant, the totem form he draws is part landscape, part abstraction.
