2020 Objects to be Destroyed, Theresa Bembnister Donald Lipski often found the manufactured objects that he used for his sculptures at surplus stores or in dumpsters. In 1980, he acquired a large supply of paint brush handles from a company going out of business, and he proceeded to combine them with rice, string, plywood and steel in a series titled Passing Time. When Lipski, who favors contrasting materials, returned to this trove for Untitled #64, he combined the stiff brush handles with pliant rubber. The resulting arrangement of unlikely objects is both elegant and amusing.
