Truly beat the heat this summer from the comfort of your own home with a virtual version of the museum’s annual Downtown @ Dusk concert series. This year’s series will stream on Akron Art Museum’s Facebook page, so you won’t miss a note. Every Thursday evening in August will premiere a new concert and, as a bonus this year, each concert will feature a special interview with the bands. So grab your favorite local brews, take-out from a restaurant, or get crafty and DIY a picnic to enjoy Downtown @ Dusk!

Curtis Taylor is an award-winning trumpeter whose lyrical and improvisational style demands attention. A native of Bedford, OH, Taylor has performed with D@D before, as well as notable performances at the Kennedy Center with pianist Cyrus Chesnut, the Spoleto Jazz Festival, and a week-long engagement at Dizzy’s Club in NYC.

Get in the groove with Timi Funk! An Akron native, Funk is a songstress and frontwoman for many different music projects, including Infinite Soul and Get On Up. Her vocal range and her music’s Neo-Soul/Blues beats are sure to set the mood for a good evening.

Sammy Deleon is one of Northeast Ohio’s most recognized bandleaders, and he has graced the D@D stage numerous times. With Deleon on the drums, he and sextet perform Latin Jazz sounds like you’ve never heard them before. Get ready to dance!
August 27 • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Join us virtually for The Numbers Band’s 50th Celebration and their 36th year playing D@D! Originating from Kent in 1969, The Numbers band has been praised by almost every national music publication and several international publications since the beginning of their 50 years of live performances and recordings. Expect nothing short of excellent from this group.
