Keith Haring’s Subway Drawings: A Discussion with Tucker Hewes and Curator Jeff Katzin

Akron Art Museum Curator Jeff Katzin will interview art collector Tucker Hewes and discuss the thousands of drawings that Keith Haring created in New York City’s subway stations during the 1980s. Their conversation will cover how New Yorkers reacted as Haring’s prolific work became a familiar sight and how some of the drawings entered Hewes’s collection. Hewes will also speak about an interview he conducted with Haring and his experience accompanying Haring into the subway. The discussion will finish with an audience Q&A and a tour of the subway drawings in the Museum’s current exhibition Keith Haring: Against All Odds.

This discussion is FREE for Members and included in the $12 admission for non-members for the exhibition and the party.
NOTE: If you have bought a ticket for the opening party, then you do not need to pay for the Discussion Event. The discussion event is included with the cost of admission, but we are requesting RSVPs due to limited seating.
