Celebrate the Holidays at the Akron Art Museum with Free Admission, Special Hours, and Membership Discounts

Akron, OH – As a gift to the community, the Akron Art Museum is expanding its hours of operation and extending free admission in addition to offering special membership discounts from November 5 through December 31, 2020.

Beginning November 5, the Museum will open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Museum’s hope is that the extended hours will allow for visitors to have more flexibility in visiting the Museum since schedules are busier this time of year with schools back in session and other activities restarting.

In addition, the Museum is continuing to offer free admission for all through the end of the year. The Museum began free admission when it reopened July 23 to ensure the entire community continues to access world-class art at no cost.

“It is our pleasure to continue offering free admission and extend hours to all of our visitors. We want to ensure that everyone can see and enjoy the art for free and at times that may be more convenient,” Jon Fiume, Interim Executive Director, said. “We want the Museum to be a place for families, friends, and community groups to come and spend time together. This year, so many of us have been required to distance or separate from one another, but the holidays are a time to come together. We believe that the Museum is an environment where you can do both–come together safely with others and still enjoy a wonderful experience.”

Also as part of the special holiday promotions, the Museum is offering a 25% discount on any membership level if you join, renew, or give as a gift before December 31.

“We are happy to provide these gifts of free admission, extended hours, and membership benefits to the community, with thanks to our philanthropic partners for helping make this time possible,” Bryan de Boer, Director of Advancement, stated. “We want to create ways for more people to experience the art. We look forward to visitors coming through our doors, bringing new visitors along with them, and giving the gift of membership so that more people can celebrate art all year long.”

The Museum is here for our community. For the remainder of the year, step inside away from the cold into a safe, beautiful space to enjoy for free at a time that is convenient for you. The Museum is continuing to ensure the safety of both the visitors and the staff during the COVID-19 pandemic by following guidelines from the Ohio Governor’s Office and Ohio Department of Health (Responsible RestartOhio Retail, Consumer, Service & Entertainment Guidelines), the CDC, the American Alliance of Museums, and the best practices set forth by museum directors across the state and country as well as those by our local arts and culture partners.
