More Information

The display of consumer goods and Christmas decorations (including a tree topped with a six-pointed or Jewish star) is the background for Heartfield’s ironic take on the division between rich and poor for AIZ’s holiday issue. This montage also related to the issue’s cover titled “And peace on earth!” It shows the guns of an American battleship and reminded readers that during the season of good will, the politicians were preparing for the coming world slaughter.
