More Information

In 1962 Alfred Leslie abandoned creating abstract art and began painting the human figure. Today he is well known for extremely large canvasses portraying the figure in an almost hyper-realistic style. Leslie's figures are usually bathed in an eerie light that emanates from an unseen source. As this self-portrait demonstrates, Leslie's dramatic technique lends his otherwise common figures an otherworldly presence.
