"The idea becomes a machine that makes the art," wrote LeWitt. For him, making art was an intellectual, unemotional endeavor in which a concept leads to the production of physical objects. It is not important whether the artist or a fabricator manufactures those objects. LeWitt often worked in series. 'Floor Piece #2' is one of eighteen related sculptures in which the width, depth and height are each formed from nine small cubes that add up to 43 1/4 inches. Don’t miss the artist’s colorful wall drawing in the McDowell Grand Lobby.
