Fritz Thyssen (1873-1951), who headed the largest steel trust in Germany, joined the Nazi Party in 1931 and was an important mediator between Hitler and other Rhineland industrialists. This portrait of Thyssen (minus Heartfield’s additions of a cigar and swastika tie pin) had appeared in the previous issue of AIZ. Hitler, shown here as a puppet of big money interests, has been given a bag of money containing an amount so large the zeros go all the way round its circumference.
