More Information

Invited by the Polaroid Corporation to use their large format artist’s camera, Nettles took the opportunity to rework some imagery she had explored the previous year. She published the Life’s Lessons series, which includes over fifty images with text, as a book in 1990. The journal, while autobiographical and narrative, also examines universal themes around mother-and-child relationships such as separation, gender roles, aggression, materialism and hope.
