Akron Art Museum’s 28th Inaugural Annual Wine Auction, An Op Art Affair, Announced for Saturday, June 10th

Auction items include tickets to U.S. Open, a trip to Italy, and exclusive wines from vintner Selby Winery

Akron, OH: The Akron Art Museum will host its twenty-eight Annual Wine Auction on Saturday, June 8, 2024. “An Op Art Affair,” is an amalgam of flavors, artistry, and auction excellence. Participants can expect a divine evening with fine wine, a spectacular four-course dinner, and one-of-a-kind live and silent auction items. The auction supports the Museum’s public programming which connects children and adults to art and inspires creativity through exhibitions and programming.

Presented by co-chairs Bill and Trish Streere, this year’s event promises more than the finest vintages and delectable cuisine. The Steeres, who found love amidst the art and wine at the 2010 auction, plan to infuse the event with a touch of romance and nostalgia.

“It’s truly remarkable that we both were in the right place that evening. The auction turned out to be a life-changing love story for both of us.” Bill says. “The Museum is a vibrant cultural anchor in our community. It’s beautiful architecture, permanent collection, special exhibitions, and educational opportunities for all make it one of Akron’s greatest assets.”

Attendees can bid on exquisite wines and exclusive packages from Northeast Ohio businesses, and plunge into the thrill of the 10 Grand Draw. There will be 300 tickets, each for $100. One grand winner will get a $10,000 cash prize, while a runner-up will receive an Akron Art Museum Membership and a bottle of Fess Parker Wine. The winner will be drawn on Auction night. This year’s vintner is Selby Winery out of Sonoma, California. Selby Winery is a female-owned vineyard co-founded by Susie Selby and her father, who was a spinal surgeon and marble sculptor. Selby Winery produces more than sixteen different varietals and has won numerous awards and accolades. Driftwood Catering will be preparing and serving the four-course meal during the auction.
