Guilbeau is best known for her images of dancers, Mexico and her native South, but she has also created nature studies. She was working in the WPA’s graphic arts workshop in Cleveland when she made this print. Its clean forms, delicate lines and subtle colors convey a romantic sensibility that contrasts with the more somber works produced by other WPA artists.
